The Changeling’s Journey is clearly heavily inspired by Scotland and this can be seen throughout the villages and locations we visit, the language used and descriptions of the world. The world building really allows you to feel like you’re travelling with our characters through the fairy hills and lochs which makes you think you’re on your own little adventure.
Uptown Oracle Reads… The Mirror and the Mountain
The story gets a bit darker nearer the end, however it reads as a children’s book throughout. Overall I thought it was a quick and easy read, although I might not have it on my favourites shelf any time soon.
Uptown Oracle Reads… Moroda
Overall I loved my re-read of Moroda and I’m excited to read and re-read the rest of the series too.
Uptown Oracle Reads… The Iron Crown | Brand New Exciting High Fantasy with Dragon Spirits
The Iron Crown is L.L. MacRae’s latest fantasy adventure and I loved it just as much as her other books. This world has dragon spirits (completely on-brand for MacRae) who live off the power of certain natural landmarks. For example, there’s the spirit of the ocean, a massively powerful spirit, or the spirit of a specific piece of woodland which is less powerful. I loved the uniqueness of the dragon spirits, and how they interacted with the people of this world too.
Uptown Oracle Reads… Isa | A Princess, a Sky Pirate and a Shapeshifter go on an Astonishing Adventure
Isa is the fourth book in McNeil’s World of Linaria season and I love getting lost in the world she’s built up. Isa focuses on the Princess Isa, with other POVs from characters in the previous books like Palom, Amarah and Sapora.
