Water acts as a solvent and enables multiple other chemicals to work much better than if they were without water. As water is water, it is also suitable for all skin types and won’t be over-drying or make skin oilier.

Tridecyl Stearate is used as a thickening agent and emollient.

Tridecyl Trimellitate is a skin-softening agent and texture enhancer.

Dipentaerythrityl Hexacaprylate / Hexacaprate is a mixture of fatty acids which are used as an emollient, emulsifier, and thickening agent.

Butylene Glycol is a solvent, viscosity-decreasing agent and a conditioner. This helps reduce the product from drying out and works well in anti-aging products as it helps retain moisture.

Glyceryl Stearate is a naturally derived fatty acid, most often used as an emulsifier. It gives the skin a soft and smooth appearance as it acts as a lubricant as well as creating a barrier reducing water loss.

Coconut Oil is an extremely good emollient and conditioner. It helps to retain moisture and make your hair and skin look and feel hydrated and smooth.

First Thoughts

The name of the product ‘7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula’ was something that made me question it at first. I wasn’t sure if it meant use it every day for 7 days or use it every 7 days. So I tried both just for this clinique 7 day scrub review. Even though I was worried about over exfoliating my skin, it didn’t harm my skin at all which I was really happy about. Although with the amount of ingredients that act as emollients I was fully expecting this scrub to help combat drier areas of my skin anyway.

During Use

You only need a little amount of product as the exfoliating grains are abundant throughout the formula. This makes it much better value for money than some of the cheaper scrubs I’ve tried which has limited ‘grain’s’ (Is that the right word?) within their formulas.

It’s an extremely gentle exfoliator as well, you can really feel the creaminess of the formula. This made be believe that it was meant to be for everyday use. Plus when you’re using it, you can tell that it’s going to make your skin feel moisturised even though it’s a scrub.

After Use

The 7 Day Scrub Cream was great and not too harsh on my skin. I normally suffer from a lot of redness after scrubs and exfoliators, which didn’t happen with this one. But it did still help reduce dead skin and my pores. But, I would say it didn’t work as well on extreme dry patches such as those from eczema. I think if you’ve got extremely dry skin you need a stronger exfoliator with a deeper moisturiser over this scrub.

Would I Purchase Again?

Yes, I think this would be great in the summer months for me! But during winter and exam season, it would be put on the back burner as it wouldn’t be as effective for my skin.
