Garnier Ultimate Blends Coconut Milk Hair Mask Review | Get A Coconut Fresh Felling Throughout Your Hair

After buying and loving the Honey mask I wanted to try a different mask too. Because of this god awful heatwave, my hair has started to get quite dry with the sun and heat and so I went for the Coconut Milk mask as it’s marketed for dry hair.

Main Ingredients and Their Benefits

Water acts as a solvent and enables multiple other chemicals to work much better than if they were without water. As water is water, it is also suitable for all skin and hair types and won’t be over-drying or make skin/hair oilier.

Cetearyl Alcohol is used as an emolllient and helps soften your hair and skin. It is an extremely gentle product on your hair and as it is a fatty alcohol it conditions as well.

Behentrimonium Chloride is a conditioning agent which helps detangle, fight static, softens and helps strengthen hair. As it is plant-based is penetrates the hair shaft rather than coating it.

Glycerin is a conditioning alcohol that is water soluble. It works well as an effective moisturiser and humecant and is what creates the thick velvety texture to a product.

Coconut Oil is an extremely good emollient and conditioner. It helps to retain moisture and make your hair and skin look and feel hydrated and smooth.

Cetyl Esters is a synthetic wax which acts as a lubricant. This gives your hair and skin a soft and smooth appearance.

Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil is a hair conditioning agent which enhances the appearance or feeling of hair. It increases body, suppleness and sheen whilst improving texture of dry or damaged hair.

Dimethicone is a type of silicon that aids the product to glide onto your skin and also acts as a barrier after application. Dimethicone is used to protect mild skin irritations, dry patches or healing wounds, and is effective at locking in moisture thanks to its larger molecules.

Citric Acid contains high levels of Vitamin, Folic Acid and Vitamin B, as well as minerals like magnesium, calcium and phosphorus. It helps to stimulate hair growth and helps keep hair follicles healthy. It can also improve scalp conditions such as itchy scalp and dandruff by absorbing excess sebum.

How to Use

You can use the Coconut Milk hair mask as both a conditioner and a mask. For a mask, apply onto damp hair and leave on for 5-10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly afterwards and dry hair as usual.

First Thoughts

Similar to the Honey one, this is in a tub that is super easy to open and close whilst in the shower. Plus it’s good to be able to just grab how much you need rather than sometimes struggle with getting it out of a bottle as it’s a bit thicker.

The smell is fantastic, and doesn’t seem overly chemical like or sickly. As I love the smell of coconut I really enjoyed this, although I don’t think it’s long lasting on your hair after washing.

During Use

The texture is thick and creamy although not too thick. I find that it’s slightly thicker than the honey version but is just as easy to apply. The product sits on my hair easily when applied and it instantly makes me hair feel smoother.

After Use

My hair definitely felt hydrated and looked healthy and happy once it dried. It also helped to reduce knots and tangles as my hair felt much smoother than before.

Would I Purchase Again?

Yes! For sure – it’s a super nice product (which I actually starting using as more like a conditioner) that lasts a long time for a good price.
