Lush Ocean Salt Review | Invigorate and Exfoliate Your Whole Body

I’m always looking out for new skincare products – especially with my sensitive skin. After smelling the cocktail fragrance I knew I needed Lush Ocean Salt as my next product. I’d also heard that the ingredients in Lush Ocean Salt would assist with my eczema symptoms.

Main Ingredients and their Benefits

Fresh Grapefruit Infusion works as a skin toner, has an uplifting scent and contains vitamin C. It is used as antiseptic, astringent and antibacterial oil for conditions such as acne, congested and oily skin.

Sea Salt contains natural minerals which assists when exfoliating as it doesn’t strip away too much natural oil in the skin. Skin will feel soft, clean and hydrated after use due to astringent and antiseptic properties and it will boost your circulation.

Fresh Organic Lime Extracted in Vodka is high in antibacterial properties from both the citrus and alcohol. This is perfect for blocked pores, blackheads and blemishes.

First Thoughts

The scent is very powerful and you can definitely tell Lush Ocean Salt contains vodka and lime. The ingredients are heavily antiseptic and antibacterial focused, which will work really well with sometimes weepy eczema.  It will also dry out the skin with the salt while encouraging healing and then the avocado butter would help to lessen the dryness of the eczema.

During Use

Unfortunately, I realised right away that it was too harsh for my face.  Between the citrus and the alcohol, my face just wasn’t happy. This is one of my biggest issues with ‘face and body’ products as my face is always a lot more sensitive than the rest of my body. On my legs and arms however, it felt okay. As it contains salt it is slightly rough, but my skin felt soft and didn’t irritate while in the shower.

After Use

My skin on my face felt dry, red and tight after use. Instead of using it on my face again, I used it to prep my legs before shaving. This worked particularly well as  Lush Ocean Salt was reducing shaving rash because of being antiseptic. I soon found that it also worked really well on my eczema. It stung quite a bit, but alcohol and citrus usually would hurt on open wounds anyway. The removal of the dry skin plus the antibacterial properties allowed my eczema to heal over faster. Especially when paired with Lush Dream Cream after drying off. I would recommend this only as a body scrub but also for anyone who has excessive dry skin, just make sure you stop using it if you do get a reaction.

I’m sure Lush Ocean Salt would work well as a face scrub for someone with less sensitive skin. But, I dont think using a scrub quite as harsh as this would be good anyway. The salt parts are quite rough and so perfect for getting rid of dry skin but it would irritate sensitive skin and may be of less use for normal and combination skin.
