Benefit Benetint | Try a Tester First Impressions | Advent Day 1 2017

One of my favourite things about Christmas is the excitement leading up to it as you open each day of your advent calendar. So to start of this year, Benefit Benetint has managed to give me this first feeling of excitment. This year I’ve been really lucky and recieved a “12 days of Christmas” style beauty advent calendar from Benefit. With it being 12 days, I decided to stretch out the fun until the 24th by opening a door every other day.

Alternatives:

For fuller-looking lips, start outlining lips and filling them in with the wand. Layer for your desired intensity.

For ombre lips, dab on the inner part of your lips and blend outward with fingertips. If your lips feel dry, try layering balm underneath for hydration.

As blush, brush a few strokes on the apples of your cheeks and blend with your fingertip (work fast, because it dries quickly). For more color, repeat and layer!

First Thoughts

Benetint is an updated version of Benefit’s first ever product, Rose Tint back in 1976. It is both a lip and cheek stain and the formula is a lightweight liquid with a small wand, similar to lip gloss. My first thoughts were that it would be super easy to apply, but there’s not going to be a strong colour or visible product.

The colour is the darkest of the tints currently available from Benefit, and it looks like a rose hue/sheer red colour – this is different to the other four in the tint series. It should create a natural pop of colour for me, however I’m hestitant in case it’s too dark from past experience. I’ll definitely need to use small amounts and layer up.

I’m also just unsure of tinted products in general. I’ve only really used tinted moisturiser before, and I’ve rarely found one that lasts the day. With the long history of the product I was intrigued to see if it was long-lasting on the skin too. On top of this, I worry that tints might irritate the skin as it’s similar to dying your skin just a little bit.

After Use

Benefit’s Benetint creates the perfect natural colour for lips. Not as harsh as most lipsticks in similar shades, but not as shiny as a lip gloss – this lip tint helps your lips look fuller and pulls together your makeup look.

On top of the colour, the lightweight liquid formula means the tint doesn’t visibly show on your lips or cheeks. Some colour is there, but unlike lipstick or lipgloss you can’t see the product itself. This means Benefit Benetint is perfect for my fellow natural makeup lovers as you look for natural looking products (or lazy girls who don’t want to wear makeup every day but still look good!).

I personally didn’t like it as much for my cheeks, but I do often go for much lighter blush colours for my pale skin. It does work well to bring colour to your skin, but it works less well when you’re using foundation and powder especially. However, it is the perfect product if you want to quickly add colour to your skin (make yourself look alive) before heading out the house.

Would I Re-Purchase Benefit Benetint?

Whilst I enjoy Benefit Benetint, and there’s no real negatives I don’t think I’d purchase again. Mainly due to the fact I don’t wear much on my lips in general, and there’s plenty of other lip products in my cupboard already.
