Lush Roots Review | The Revitalising Hair Treatment that Stimulates Your Scalp

Lush is one of those shops I cant just look around in. I always pick something new up to try, or something I already know I love ‘just in case’ I’m running out. I heard about Lush Roots being really good for thin and fine hair, and so I decided to try it out. It’s like a short term hair masque – you leave it on for about 10-20 minutes and then wash your hair as normal. Because of this, I normally use it at the same time as a face mask. So it’s perfect for when you’re having a full on pamper session. Lush Roots has a minty smell and as you massage it into your head, it can really relax you. I personally use it at least once a fortnight.

Fresh Mint Infusion, Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol & Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Citric Acid, Propylene Glycol, Honey, Peppermint Oil, Sweet Orange Oil, Spearmint Oil, Grapefruit Oil, Nettle Absolute, Neroli Oil, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, *Limonene, *Linalool, *Citral, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

Peppermint Oil is cooling and enlivens the skin. The menthol stimulates the nerves and can disrupt the hair fall cycle, prolonging the process of hair fall. This means hair is retained longer, creating thicker looking hair.

Honey contains nutrients and is antiseptic, antibacterial, antioxidant and antifungal which benefits both the skin and hair. As a natural humectant it also helps attract and retain moisture.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil contains vitamin E, oleic acid, hydroxytyrosol and Squalene. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps repair and build tissue on your scalp. It reduces inflammation and encourages hair growth. Oleic acid is an essential fatty acid that controls water loss and makes your hair softer and more pliable. Hydroxytyrosol is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the world. Squalene has emollient properties that helps retain moisture as well as enhance the penetration of other ingredients. Olive leaf and oil have also been found to contain anti-cancer properties.

Sweet Orange Oil has a cheerful and sweet scent that lifts your mood. There’s also toning properties for your scalp.

Apply generously to dry hair and leave on for around 20 minutes, allowing the ingredients to deeply saturate your hair and get to work on the scalp. Then rinse out, shampoo and condition as normal. Use as regularly as you would like.

First Thoughts

As my hair is very thin and fine I wanted something that would make my hair look and feel thicker and healthier. Although my hair is very thin, it’s also very long and gravity often pulls it down and de-volumises it a bit. I felt a bit put off when I first opened Lush Roots up as it’s quite a thick formula. I was worried about this making my hair feel heavy and oily. Then making it look even more limp and flat.

During Use

As soon as you apply it to your scalp and roots, Lush Roots makes your scalp feel cool and the smell is wonderful. I fully massaged it in, and with all the aspects it was a very relaxing process. Even though it was a thick formula, it felt very easy to wash out and I wasn’t worried about any leftover residue after washing and conditioning.

After Use

Lush Roots, unlike many products, doesn’t seem to weigh the hair down. My hair looks and feels sleeker and smoother after use. But, never heavy. I’m prone to getting a lot of knotted hair near my neck, and I think this has helped resolve this. The hair doesn’t seem to tangle up as much, or as easy when I’ve used Roots. It’s also a lot easier to detangle as the hair is smoother. A lot of other reviewers stated that the had hair growth/thickening but I didn’t notice any of these changes. It does make your hair look a lot healthier though.

Would I Re-Purchase?

Yes I would! It works so well for my thin and fine hair, so I would love to keep my hair healthy with Lush Roots.
