What I’m Looking Forward to in My 2nd Year

After my 1st year of university flying by – which I’m still in shock about by the way – I’m starting my 2nd year at the end of September and I’m super excited. Mostly because binge watching Netflix gets slightly underwhelming after a couple of guilt free weeks and also because I live in Newcastle all the time and I cant wait for all my uni friends to come back as I’m really bored. I know that this year actually counts towards my degree and the workload is going to get heavier and harder but I’m really looking forward to going back because:

  1. Living on my own – Although last year I moved out of my parents home I still lived with 4 other people and so it was usually never quiet. As I’m fairly introverted I really need time alone to recharge and basically not be permanently grumpy, which is really hard to do when you share a kitchen (as I also love food) and there’s always someone around. This year I’m getting a studio on my own so hopefully it will be a lot better.
  2. Getting to choose 2 of my modules – 1st year was… interesting? I ended up disliking half my modules and so this year the fact that I got to choose 2 modules means that at least I’m doing 2 modules that I WANT to do. Also the increase in difficulty may actually make the modules more interesting as 1st year was full of information that is taught in GCSE and A level business studies which after doing it for both was extremely tedious.
  3. Looking for a placement – I’m actually nervous and excited about this one, as I really want to do my placement year with a fashion or beauty brand so getting involved and applying seems really exciting. But i’m so nervous in case I don’t get any interviews, or if I completely mess up! I’m so on the fence about to fall into panic about this yet I’m bouncing of the walls because I just want to jump in and start applying already!
  4. My birthday! I’m 20 this November and I just cant wait to celebrate! I’ll probably still look 13 and get ID’d every time me and my friends go for drinks but I’ll no longer be a teenager and i’m really looking forward to it!
  5. Trying new things – I’ve decided that this year I’m going to push myself out of my comfort zone and try new things. One thing is learning to cook and bake (something other than Bolognese  or Chill) and also I wanna try and find a new society to join. So I’m mostly looking forward to challenging myself!

Is anyone looking forward to going back to Uni? Or already excited at being there as my course starts really late?
